With the encouragement of a friend who is also an artist, I took up art in 2007, originally training under a local well-known artist and retired art teacher. I started with oil, but have added watercolor, acrylic and mixed media as well.  I believe that creating both representational and abstract art brings the beauty of the world around us and the people that are dear to us closer so that we can enjoy them every day. My need to create is strong, and I enjoy experimenting with many mediums. You will find a lot of symbols in my paintings, like medallions and elephants, which symbolize good luck, protection, wisdom and fertilityI love putting people in my paintings as this is really the heartbeat of our existence.

 I'm excited for the future of my art, as this is just the beginning of my journey.  With each passing session I look beyond the now to reach the deepest crevices of the inner "me". It is a constant process of learning and growing. I'm grateful for the mentoring of other more mature artists that I cross paths with as I strive to broaden both my skills and vision to create engaging and meaningful art for all to enjoy.
